Melbourne Cup Day at Tranquil Waters

Posted in 'Resident Events, Village Events' on November 1, 2011
How time does fly, here we are the 1st Tuesday in November. Melbourne Cup Day again.

The excitement is not limited to the track here at Tranquil Waters, the girls & boys give it their best. The girls, as always, resplendent in their hats & finery. But what a special effort put in by the boys. Opinion was that the male outfits out-did the girls. The hat & sock competition was of a very high standard & the two winners deserved their wins.

A fine lunch of sandwiches,  finger food & desert was prepared by the girls. All in all another great day.A great day of food, drinks and fun at our annual Melbourne Cup Day celebrations in the Community Centre.

Leukaemia Foundation Fair $4,800 Raised!

Posted in 'Resident Events, Village Events' on November 7, 2011
The Leukaemia Foundation is dedicated to the care & the cure of patients & families living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma & related blood disorders.

Here at Tranquil Waters, in November each year, our committee organizes a leukaemia day & has successfully raised large amounts of money for the foundation annually. The amount of $4,800 was raised in support of the Leukaemia Foundation, well over $1,000 more than last year.

Give yourselves a pat on the back everyone, not just the organisers but all of you who took the time to join in the fun, buying raffle tickets, jewellery, cakes and biscuits, handmade goods as well as our white elephant stall.

Over $230 alone was raised by the auction of "teddy" lovingly handmade by Tranquil Waters resident, Audrey Priest. Thanks Audrey.

In the food department, sausages flew off the BBQs and morning and afternoon teas were on the go all day.  Our very own Tranquil Tones also added to the day with their lovely singing.

Wynnum Manly Radio Model Yacht Club - Regatta at Tranquil Waters

Posted in 'Resident Events, Village Events' on November 17, 2011
In conjunction with the Wynnum Manly Radio Model Yacht Club, the inaugural Tranquil Waters Regatta will be held at the village on the easterly beach overlooking the bay islands of the village on Sunday 29th January 2012.

With a start time of approximately 10am this will allow the One Metre radio controlled yachts to sail on a raising tide and depending upon the wind conditions the regatta should finish at around 12 - 12:30.

Following the regatta, activities will shift to the Community Centre for a BBQ and refreshments and presentations to the winning competitors.

There is adequate parking at the end of Base St or at Council parking area at Thompson's Beach opposite the village entrance.

This event is kindly organised by resident Bernie Cornish and the Wynnum Manly Radio Yacht Club.

All are welcome.

Hello from the Village Manager

Christmas 2011 will be both happy and sad for me. Happy because we are in the final stages of building and sad because it is the end of an era.

I have been here since the village began in 2000 and welcomed our first residents, the late Chilla and Ngaire Goodchap. Since then many more have joined us and what a delight it is to listen to the laughter and see new friends enjoy each others company at functions and outings.

Tranquil Waters has a vibrant and friendly community full of laughter, fun and friendship. Retirement is not about slowing down, but having the time to do the things you enjoy most.

So this is the last chance to secure one of the few remaining NEW villas.

We have released stage 10 and have already welcomed the first resident. These new villas are north/south facing with good patios and in a few weeks we will have three 3bedroom units available. These villas have more than ample storage, but be quick as they will be the last.

Maybe one day we will be able say to you "welcome aboard".
