Thursday 16th February saw the first trip for 2012 taking in Currumbin Rock Pool
, Red Rattlers Gallery
and lunch at Murwillumbah RSL.
We enjoyed freshly made tea and coffee and a variety of tiny cakes and biscuits at the rock pool. A delightful area fed by mountain spring water. Making our way along winding scenic roads with beautiful scenery including stgahorns. Ferns and palms in the forest. Even saw a koala.
Suddenly we gained an hour passing into NSW. We stopped at the Red Rattlers Gallery where one of the 1928 restored rail carriages held art works, crafts and jewellery made by local artists while the other served light refreshments. On our way again we passed through the cane fields and waterways of the Tweed Valley over the Rous river and into Murwillumbah for lunch.
The levy wall in Murwillumbah is decorated with paintings of plants, animals and birds, native to the area. Time to head home and put our watches back an hour.
A big thanks to Barbara and Ken for once again organising a wonderful and interesting day.”
Join us at Tranquil Waters and you too could be part of these great outings.
